The Learning Place Affiliate p​rogram has provided many opportunities for Queensland non-state schools and universities to create, collaborate and network in the Learning Place, the Department of Education's trusted online learning environment for the past 19 years.

The Department of Education is currently in the process of replacing the Learning Place with QLearn, a more modern, flexible and integrated learning management platform that will help achieve our vision for a digital future.

QLearn is an online ecosystem underpinned by a learning management system called Canvas where users can create and manage courses, lessons, assessment and resources.

The journey to rollout QLearn is well underway and we are planning to go-live in July 2022. As such, the Learning Place Affiliate program is planned to cease in December 2022.

Once QLearn is fully implemented the Department will reconsider the Affiliate program and we will provide details late 2022.​

​Learning Place Affiliation is an annual subscription offering Queensland non-state schools and universities opportunities to learn, teach, create, collaborate, discover and network in the Learning Place.

To become a Learning Place Affiliate Subscriber, you must represent a legal entity who can enter into contractual arrangements on behalf of either a:

  • Queensland university with an education faculty, offering a pre-service program
  • Queensland primary or secondary school, accredited by the Non-State School Accreditation Board.

What don't affiliates have access to?

Affiliate members will not have access to:

  • Live educational programs in OneChannel
  • Note: Affiliates do have access to recordings of OneChannel live programs.
  • Staff or student courses marked for Education Queensland only
  • Technical support.

Note: Participating institutions will be responsible for providing their own technical support and connectivity requirements. Learning Place business support will be offered to one nominated staff member from the affiliated institution. This person is referred to as the Learning Place Local Administrator (LPLA) and must be included in the purchased memberships.
